Defensive egg laying?

lostkauze Feb 02, 2004 08:53 PM

My jungle just laid eggs on sunday. When she was in the process of laying them, i watched, and her two companion girlfriends were in the hide with her, i thought this was strange, but thought little of it. Then the girl laying eggs (Richard-- i thought it was a boy and after 2 years of unsuccessful breading, realized it was a girl.), then the girl laying eggs dug and dug all day long, and walked around the hide and wouldn't leave it. finally, i got the eggs, and the day later,(today), she is still digging and moving eveything around. and by digging, i mean alot of digging. Why is this? Is it normal?

Hi

I have had mine do that also and there is nothing wrong with that, her instincts are still telling her she needs to cover them.

Take Care, TLB
