clstuck76 Feb 03, 2004 06:05 AM

I was wondering what people think is the best gecko to have when is comes to looks, breeding etc.. I have had leopard geckos in the past but want something new to breed. I do have gargoyle and cresteds and I love them!! Anything else?? Please let me know. I do like the cat geckos too.

Cat gecko? Where? Have you seen one? Aaarrgh..... Must have more cat geckos....

Ahem... composure....

You could look at Teratoscincus, Uroplatus, or Tarantola (helmeted geckos). Those are all very cute genera.

(I'm sitting on a lone female cat gecko. They're very pretty but also relatively boring. And shy.)

I was looking at helmetedgecko.com when I typed that... it has them as Geckonia/Tarantola chazaliae. Probably got reclassified or something? Well... I guess at any rate they're the tiny cute deserty ones. I've been thinking of picking some up but never had the extra cash.

The lady at helmetedgecko.com has some great animals. She attends the local show with a good variety of helmeteds.

Why would you say that if your name is "Tarentola"? Geckonia chazaliae was changed to Tarentola chazaliae. Me and a friend have decided that "Tarentola" needs some torturous punishment for that last post. Who ever is allowing this person to get to a computer needs to banish them to a university library and force them to learn real material. This is and isn't a joke...
Peace with you all, but education (proven) is the key to betterment.

I'm not going to fight over anything because I have books and magazines that say they are not Tarentola. It does'nt make sense there tarentola, helmeted geckos have no toe pads like the proper Tarentolas.

Message:DO NOT TRUST THE INTERNET!
I could say there chameleons and some people would belivie me!
And who is yr friend?

DEFINITELY NOT PROUD. Tarentola, nothing was to be taken seriously or personally. I honestly apologize. It was quite wrong to use that post as an example (especially since classification is confusing how it changes) of the false info that plagues the herp world. Many people who post comments, questions, etc., have obviously not read a bit of literature on the subject in which they are asking about. This again is not criticism to them, but more of a call to action. You are right, do not trust everything you read on the internet. That was the point I was trying to make. Just the spreading of false information, is kind of thing that got people to believe there were nuclear weapons in Iraq. People will believe your first and every word. I just feel it is important in keeping things simple and accurate in the chaotic herp world. Again, I chose the wrong time to point out my little angst. My "friend"...well it was a book.
Sorry for the metaphor
Peace.
