Just returned from the 1st annual SC Herpetological conference held this past weekend by SCDNR and hosted by the wonderful folk (Scott Pfaff) at Riverbanks Zoo in Columbia, SC. This conference was open to all who are interested in herps, conservation, or latest scientific endeavors.. It was great to see the familiar faces of the best this state (and Georgia) has to offer. Dynamic speakers were in abundance as the legendary Dr. Whitt Gibbons, (and his many proteges), Dr. Samuel Seashole, Dr. Kurt Buhlmann, Steve Bennett, Dr. Julian Harrison, and Scott Pfaff to name but a few shared their vision, experience, and wit with the fortunate in attendance.. A few SHHS members attended as well and helped to make it an even more enjoyable event. Hats off to all who attended. Special thanks to what probably is the most progressive (dedicated to the truth) group of Dept of Natural Resources personnel in this country led by SCDNR representative extraordinaire Steve Bennett....Looking forward to next year's event.........
