The only thing newspaper will benefit is you. It has nothing to offer to your monitor.
Substrates commonly used are mulch, dirt, sand, sphagnum moss, leaf litter.
You can use those or a combination of them, it all depends on what your looking to get out of the substrate.
But again I'd leave the newspaper for the snakes, birds, or some other litter pan.
i didnt want to use newspaper i was just asking who did and why,i use ground cocanut husk sorry if it sounded like i wanted it

I use that with my geckos they love it.
Nice looking bosc.

to many to list specifics on, but I keep monitors, boas, pythons, colubrids, skinks, chameleons, uromastyx, iguanas, and turtles.
I also have other animals, I used to work at a zoo.

I use newspaper for when I had new monitors and was checking stools and quarantining. I also use it when I have had to change out the dirt (getting stinky too soon) and it is hard to find more under all the SNOW! (not that I have cabin fever or anything!)
As has been said.....otherwise it does nothing for the monitor.
