Need info on strange behavior

GemTwist Jun 07, 2003 07:56 PM

I have often noticed my bearded dragon sitting on top of his log under the heat lamp with his mouth slightly open. Is this a normal behavior? He has been doing it off and on for a couple months and I don't know why. I would be greatful for any info.

This is a way for them to thermoregulate. It is normal for them to do this. If he is also doing it on the cool side then you might want to look into it more, cause that is a sign for respitory problems, but if he's only doing it when basking it is ok. Just double check the temp in the basking spot to see if it didn't get hotter all of a sudden, and make sure he's got a cool place to go.
