Crested Geckos and Red Eyed Tree Frogs Housed together?

Jobocoolness Feb 03, 2004 02:53 PM

I am just starting to raise Crested Geckos and since I have a really big vivarium my mom thought it a good idea to house more than one species in it. I wasn't sure about it so i thought I would ask. Is it ok for a Pair of Crested Geckos to be housed with a Red eyed tree frog? Any other information on this topic or either spcies would be very valuable thanks alot.
Sincerely,
Joshua Dickey

That would be a no. Tree frogs, especially the red eyes, need quite a bit more humidity than cresteds do. (This was what I was told when I asked the same thing, about frogs and cresteds ) I have heard though, that you can house pink-tongued skinks with them if you wanted to mix species. I have never actually seen one of those guys before, and they arent very cheap. But i think the Rhac book says that they can be housed together. Hope this helps! And I am no expert on cresties, i got my first one back in september, so feel free to correct me if i am wrong, anyone

I have been keeping crested geckos for some time now, and though I have never personally kept the two together, one of my close friends has beed housing a crested and a red eye together about 11 months now, so it will work. The Rhacodactylus book does mention pink tongue skings and giant african millipedes and good tank mated, not to say that those are the only compatable animals, but those are the ones that the author keeps with some of his cresteds.
