What kind of snake is this?

anson Feb 03, 2004 03:49 PM

I rescued it from a pet shop that went out of business. I don't know what it is or what kind of care it needs. I have lots of lizards but no snakes so far. I would appreciate any care info or directions to a care sheet. Also tips on handling would be appreciated. Is this an aggressive kind of snake? It looks like a milk or king of some kind.

Is that a hybrid ~ Corn * Getula?

Never seen anything like it before

The head looks kind of like a milk snake but I don't know.
No one has been able to identify it.

The person to ask is Rainer as far as what it is exactly. One thing is for sure thats a Hybrid. A classic example of why Hybrids suck. If this guy didnt come here and ask what this was it could have been bred to a Thayeri and people would have gotten babies without knowing one parent was a hybrid. Its a nice looking snake I dont mean to dump on it . Care is for any colubrid look up a kingsnake care sheet and that will help you and please please please dont breed that snake.

I am not even that comfortable around snakes.
This is just a pet and a rescue from a store that went out of business. I have my hands full with caring for 5 snakes when I have never had even one before.
I just think this is the one I will keep due to it's rather docile nature and I wanted care info.
thanks, Sonia

Its nice to hear a rescue story. I hope I didnt come of as harsh and I think that snake will make a good pet for you regardless of its mixed up genetics LOL.

Its a jungle corn. It is a hybrid california king X corn snake.

Not to be confused with the jurassic milk, which is a hybrid corn X california king X honduran milk.
