Metal screen/mesh? where to get?

kyle1745 Feb 03, 2004 04:27 PM

Ok i know a couple places to get no-see-um fabric, but I am looking for a place to order some metal mesh/screen with the same properties. Anyone know of a place to order this?

I know this place sells it:
http://www.mcnichols.com/products/perforated/pp_main.htm

But I have been playing e-mail tag with them for 3 days now, and still no price.

I have ordered glass for a tank that will be 11 wide by 14 deep, and 18high. The glass should be done tomorrow, but I need to screen for a 3 inch section on the top. I will post some pics when I start building it.

Hey Kyle,

Try searching this site: www.mcmaster.com/
They have just about everything you could want.

They do have a lot, but hard to tell what is small enough to keep in FF's. I use small sewing plastic on most of my tanks and it works well, but for as large of a gap as I want to use on this tank it will not work as well. I would rather use a metal type screen.

Mcmaster, has .011, the smaller .009 only comes in 100ft rolls. Anyone have any idea how small .011 is?

Its about the same as a thick business card, which was .015", so its really, really small. I dont think that any fruit flies will be able to get through that.

I've ordered and received my 60x60 screen. It will work great! I orderd a 12x24, and should be enough for the 4 tanks I plant to make.
