This is the link for the page with the expanded pvc (and it works wonderfully, I have used it many times to make my own enclosures..
http://www.usplastic.com/catalog/product.asp?catalog_name=USPlastic&category_name=PVC Sheet and Shapes&product_id=Expanded High Density Rigid Polyvinyl PVC Full Sheet
sorry for the huge link..but it is where you need to go..
if you can't get that to work you can also go to the usplastics page, open the scroll down menu for plastic products, and scroll down to sheet, rod, shape. Then click it.. and on the left hand side one of the options is the expanded high density rigid polyvinyl pvc..

You never experience life until you have kids..then you realize what you should have done rather then what you did do
After you see the price, you'll know why plastic racks are so expensive. Fortunately I get it cheaper than the $147/sheet listed at U.S. Plastics but to buy a 4x8 sheet and have it pre-cut on a laser-guided saw, it's still right around $100 for me.
Anyway, just an FYI, although you could just screw this material together, I'd not recommend it. If you notice the manufacturers that use EPVC (including myself), the advantage to this plastic is that it can be welded together. Every manufacturer that sells pre-built racks (okay, let's just say I can't think of any that don't), will either thermally or chemically weld the plastic together.
THAT is more of an investment than the plastic itself. Plastic welders start at $200 for a hot-air welder and go up to $800 for a good one. Obviously a pretty penny just to make a few racks.
Best of luck,
Jason @ Jason's Jungle
There are two reason why I want to make it myself. 1 of course would be in the effort of saving money. And 2, because what I want isn't all that typical. Did you say that you make racks out of this material?
Take care,
Brad
Yeah, my entire product line is made from EPVC. Check the thread from today for some more information on plastic.
Your other option would be HDPE. If you find the right stuff, it's excellent. It is quite a bit heavier (although still lighter than melamine) but it's easier to work with and the stuff is UNBREAKABLE. It does scratch very easy but I'm not kidding when I say you can't break it.
Drop me a line if you have any questions and I'll answer what I can.
Good luck,
Jason @ Jason's Jungle
