Here are the pics of my babies. I just love em.

They were swimming around and eating the second I put them in the tabnk. They are both now basking as I write this. Of course when I get close enough to take a pic, they dash lol

Anyways, a few pics are there, and I will be adding more - I already took about 30 : )

I still haven't named them yet, but I am leaning towards Austin (for texas) and Carter (short for cartography, which means map)/ They are Texas Map turtles.

Robyn

They are so CUTE!!! My cats like to watch the turtle (okay, they are really interested in the fish) too!! They learned their lesson pretty quick about water=wet so I don't have that problem anymore ::smug smile:: I jokingly say to my cat "Awww... do you want to eat your brother?"

Anyway, you have a pair of beautiful little guys (or girls)

By the way, is your basking area secured? I've been afraid to do something like you did because I've been worried about shifting in the water. Just wondering what your experience is. My turtle moves EVERYTHING in the tank which is why I bought the ZooMed Turtle Dock that gets secured to side of tank with suction cups but I don't like it very much because it's so large.

as of right now it is secure, and it hasn't moved - the cups are filled with water when turned upside down, so they stay in the water. That isn't my permanent basking area solution, just haven't figured out what I am going to do yet.

I did buy one of the turtle log thingies that adjusts to the water, but the dumb stick is only like 5 inches high that they can get on.

They look good! Don't forget to get some cuttle bone - the kind used for birds. Peel off the back carefully with a knife before putting pieces in the tank. The turtles get extra calcium this way. You don't have to have it, but I like to use it. You can soak cuttle bone in water over night to make it a little easier to peel off the back.

You can start offering dark, leafy greens now, too, in addition to pellets.
