She needs to be in something far bigger than a 10 gallon tank.
She could be pawing at the sides for any number of reasons.
As the other person said, she may be looking for somewhere to dig, if she is gravid with infertile eggs.
When I first got my chameleon, he was a rescue. He came to me in a (approx) 30 gallon triangular glass tank. He would also go to the bottom of his tank and paw at the glass.
Obviously, being a male, he wasn't searching for a place to dig to lay eggs.
But, what I do think was happening was he was attempting to get out, to the world he could see beyond the glass.
Why was he doing this? Well, perhaps because his environment inside the tank was too small. He had no freedom of movement.
Zoe now lives in a very large enclosure. He can still see out, and notice that there is a world outside of his cage.
But, he NEVER paws at the side of this enclosure. I think this is because he can travel all over his cage. He can hide, he can bask. I don't think he feels as confined as he did in the glass tank.
Zoe's was 30 gallons, and thta was too small. 10 gallons shouldn't be used at all, except maybe temporarily as an isolation tank, or for new born chams.
You're not doing her any favours by keeping her in such a small environment.
This is the cage that Zoe lives in now. It is 6 feet high x 2 feet deep x 2 feet wide:

Believe it or not, we now keep two gerbils in the tank that Zoe spent at least the first two years of his life in.
