Timothy Hay question...

ZPD Feb 03, 2004 10:08 PM

In the artice on Leopard Tortoises in Reptiles magazine, they mention finely chopping up the hay to make it more edible for the tort. I have rarely seen my Tort trying to eat the hay, so should i bother, do you guys chop it up? Do your Leopard Torts eat the timoth hay? While im writing can i ask another question....oh good. When i put greens in the enclosure they shrivel up throughout the day, do they loose significant nutrition when shriveled? Thanks once again.

Yes, chopping it up may make it more appealing and/or easier for your tortoise to eat it.

Yes, my juvenile does.

No, they just lose moisture.
