Melamine ? "Marcia are u out there?

I am wanting to build my rack system for my babies (hopefully)out of melamine. I like the plans that Rob Jenkins put up in the forum. I just have one question, I have read in here that melamine will form a carcinogenic when heated by the flex watt tape. I think they probably meant to say if it burns, but in that case everything forms a carcinogenic. Rob and I talk quite often and he has not told me of any problems, also I know quite a few who use it. I just wanted to make sure, I can either go out and get melamine or oak...lol. Marcia I'm really counting on your brain on this one. All comments are welcome.

Tim, I have never heard of any problems using melamine shelves in a rack system, and I wouldn't think that temperatures of about 90 degrees F would effect it too much. This is just an educated opinion... not a known fact, though.
