Shy Skink

skinkgirl Feb 04, 2004 07:55 AM

Schnieder's skinks are supposed to be really fun to watch right? Well my skink is fun to watch..When he lats me! I like to watch him play on his driftwood and climb on the rocks but every time i walk in the room he freezes. The only thing he lets me watch him do is feed. Am i doing something wrong here? OOr is my skink just shy?

I'd have to say that during the summer, Schneiders are great fun. If you have anything suitable in there for climbing, that will be the main focal point. Watching the female laze around, while the male doesn't stop moving around the territory, climbing up everything with grace, but failing to do the same coming down.

What room are they in? I have mine in my bedroom, so I wake up when they do. They get used to this, and get used to you being in the room. Now is a bad time, as they will be inactive for the most part, but be in the room in the early hours of the they day, from around 7am - 9am. Don't make eye contact with the skink, as it may see this as a threat. Find something to do, do some homework or somethin, but make sure you're visible when the skink wakes up.

Do you knwo if your skink is male or female? If you don't post a couple of pictures and i'm sure we can help
