UTH for slate

eternal Feb 04, 2004 12:48 PM

Hi, can anyone help me on this? I have switched to slate as a substrate. the only prob is my slate tile is about a 1/2 " thick. i dont think the heat is getting through . the regular surface temp is ok becuz of the overhead, but im worried about the hide temps. they are significantly lower.
im using a cobra mat on a 20 gal flr space w/ temp cntrol.
(i have it cranked) any other UTH suggestions?

thanks

I think my UTH is Cobra too...The slate was warm, providing belly heat, but not quite warm enough (it does take awhile for the heat to build up when you first put it all together). I added a UV heat lamp, but I am going to switch to a red bulb as I hear that won't disturb them at night. Geckos are putting on weight and growing quickly, seems to be working well.
