We have had a hondurun tricolor milksnake that was a great eater and has had no previous problems. Several weeks ago, he went through a shed cycle but did not shed his skin. He did this again about 2 weeks ago. During the interim, he was soaked in warm water. We also took him to the vet and he tried to get a blood sample but could not. He was also worried that he may be dehydrated so we have been giving him water.
After the second shed cycle, we tried to assist in shedding. Individual scales would come off, but the scales would become wrinkly after and we did not mess with him after that.
He was taken to another vet who observed him, and thought that he may have a hypothyroid problem. His metabolic problems would be affecting his ability to shed. I have tried to research on the internet and in several reptile medicine books, but have not found any info. We will be taking him to the vet again, but I am becoming increasingly frustrated that I am not getting any answers. Does anyone have any suggestions or information to help me learn more about this situation?
