WAX WORMS .. Wax Worms Wax Worms

tigermist Feb 04, 2004 02:56 PM

It seems that my lil guy (5 months and 9 inches) now has a craving for only wax worms... He just won't eat crix anymore.

But takes the wax worms right out of my hand. sometimes 10 worms will make him full..

Anyone here see a problem with swappin him over to just wax worms.. (impaction ??)... And he still won't eat veggies or pellets even when the worms are in the dish (which was my original plan for him to start eating veggies)..

Well waxworms are really high in fat and not very nutritious either. The problem with waxworms is that they get addicted to them like children are addicted to candy. They get spoiled very easily. This happened with all three of my beardies and I finally had to let them go hungry for a couple days by only offering crickets/mealworms/salad etc. Eventually when they get hungry enough they will eat what they are offered. They should really only be used as a treat and I wouldn't recommend them as a staple food item. Just my opinion.
