I have a new male. Hes four and a half months and around 15 inches long. i feed him salad and 20-30 3/4 inch cricks daily. How much calcium supplementation should he get?

He should get calcium on a daily basis at this age. Dust the crickets.

Also, try to give hime something else than just salad to eat. Beardies can eat a large variety of greens, vegetables and fruit, and it's healthy for them to have a varied diet. Check out www.beautyfuldragons.com which has a great food-page.

I would recommend you feed your beardie as much crickets as he will eat within a period of 10-15 minutes, twice daily, at this age. They need a lot of protein to grow strong.

I assume you're aware of all the other aspects of beardie-care? UVB-light, temps, substrate-issues...? If not, the above will be a good starting point.

Good luck.

Man...what's wrong with that beautyfuldragons-url??? When I try to type it into the address bar, it doesn't work. I acutally have to select the bookmark for it to work, even though it's excactly the same address... :-o

Anyway, to answer the question about feeding, yes, I would use a separate feeding cage if you can. Just throw in a bunch of crickets, and let the little guy eat until he looses interest. If you don't have a feeding cage, just throw small amounts of crickets in his cage, throwing in more as he eats them, until you notice him getting less enthusiastic as the crickets fall down.

See if the beautyfuldragons.com link below works... I've copied & pasted it from my address bar.

Has anyone here ever heard of crushed fruit flavored TUMS being used for a calcium supplement? The antacid part is made from Calcium Carbonate.
