How many people actually feed pinkies to their breeding leos (or just as an ocassional treat)? I've read that they are great for bulking up breeding females. Any input would be great. Thanks!

I'm not sure if its the best thing to do, but i feed my leo's a pinky a few days after they lay their eggs, to regain body fat.
I would do the same. I would only feed pinkies a few times a year, as long as its not too big for the Leo and that the Leo even takes it.

Just wondering, do you feed them live pinkies? Aren't they pretty much immobile? (don't know anything about them)
Yea their live, and they can't really move around. They just sit there and squirm. My wife hates it when I feed pinkies and can't bear to watch lol.

I don't really see the need to feed them pinkies to initiate breeding. But at the end of the breeding season after they have laid 4 or 5 clutches I feed them a pinky to get them back to gaining weight nicely for the rest of the year.
My wife is totally awesome about the leos, she loves em just as much as I do, but when it comes to pinkys, I have to do that alone and at night when no one can see.
Does anyone here breed there own mice?

Nah they squirm around as much as mealworms in a bowl. If your leo has trouble seeing them, you can dip more than just its rump in calcium. Give it a light all over coating, and it will stand out, and its movements will be accented. Some of my big boys & girls really come a runnin at pinky time.
Anyone got any pics of this, or would that be way to graphic?
