Leo Escape Attempts???

Dedalus Feb 04, 2004 08:14 PM

Heh every night my leos team up to make co-ordianted escape attempts. They are not over crowded, mal nourished, or otherwise unhappy. They just like trying to pull a prison break. They stand on each others shoulders (stacked 2 or 3 high) and flail around trying to grab onto anything they can. I used to not use a screen top (as leos cant climb like tokays)and I used to have a ceramic alien in the tank for decoration. The aliens head came to about 4 inches from the top of the tank I woke up one morning to find one of my leos running around on the floor eating spiders and other bugs she found in my crappy basement apartment. A second leo was on the dresser top sleeping with my GF's beanie babies. The last poor guy was sitting on the aliens head trying to make his way out of the tank like the other two. So I added a screen top and removed the alien but they still try most nights to break out again and be free.

I know the story is kinda long, does anyone else see there leos try to escape? Just wondering...

Oh yeah. I had a leo escape from a tank WITH a screen top. The bizaree thing was the top was CLOSED when I discovered she was missing. I thought I was going crazy and even wondered if someone had broken in and stolen her. It wasn't toil I caught her doing this (see picture) that I figured out she must have opened the screen top and somehow pulled it shut when she climbed out. Very tricky they are, them leos!

That was toooooooooo funny, the way you describe it. Sounds like they just like to get out. I have a second level in my 40 gal tank and every night Lily is up there trying to climb up the glass to get out. My girls don't team up to get out though. They will pile up on top of eachother in the hides though, Dot was found sitting on Lily's head not long ago LOL.

Yah they love to get out and run around on the carpet. When I take my patternless out he'll sit in my hand and wag his tail until I put him on the floor and he immediately starts running as fast as he can towards my chameleon cage. The 2 females are more laid back they just wait to get put down and then they start cruising around looking for something to climb up.

Yes! Too funny...Rusty, my main stud last year actually must have developed levitation powers as he was able to make his way out of a cage that had 8"-10" betweent he top of the tallest hide/decoration to the top of the tank...still can't figure out how he did it....unless he had his females make a ladder for him.....you'd think they would tell him no-way because they don't want to share him....but,then again...maybe they were happy that they did not have to plead "headache" for just one night...

I put my little guy in a box with one of those flip lids while cleaning his tank one night, he decided to climb out and run away. I ripped my basement apart *and my basement is horrible - cement floors, boxes in one half, car parts in the other* for two days straight looking for him. Finally I decided to lay hides and food for him in hopes he'd appear. Two days later I went to get teeshirt out of my bottom dresser drawer and there he is, sticking his head up at me with a look like "Peekaboo"
