My boy's in shed!

tygar Feb 04, 2004 08:52 PM

Hi everyone.
My male B.P. has been hanging out in his humid hide for about a week, and now I know why. He's in "blue" tonight!
This will be his first shed, since I have had him, and I just want to make sure I'm doing things correctly.
Is having a humid hide in his enclosure (he's housed in a rack system, with Rubbermaid containers)enough humidity for his shed, or should I also be misting or soaking him?
His temps are correct, and he's on aspen substrate.
The humidity in the enclosure is less than 60%, but he HAS been using the humid hide.
Should I be doing anything different... and I know you've answered this questions a million times - but, how many days does it usually take after the "blue" phase for the shed to occur?
Thank you in advance, for your help!

Mindy

If he's hanging out in his humid hide, he should shed just fine.

One of the reasons people's pythons have bad shed is if they aren't given a place to soak, a humid hide or misted. If you’re doing any of the above, you snake "should" have a nice perfect shed.

After his eyes clear up, you'll have to wait another 2 days or so before he sheds.

Good luck, bp's always look awesome just after a shed! :D
