My female is large with ovulation and without a male....

or at least a male old enough. While yours is enjoying the company of a very nice looking boy...

Congrats and best of luck - hope she takes!

they look great! good luck..

what's a good size to start breeding Hoggs? I put my 02 pair together this winter just to see what would happen. I didn't really cycle them except that I turned off their warm spot since they became uninterested in food a little over a month ago. I've seen them getting close and personal but nothing that makes me know for certain what they were up to. the male is maybe a little shy of 4 ft and the female is maybe 5.5 ft. I was a little concerned that I was feeding them on the heavy side to get this growth with them being 02's..

any feedback for the novice would be appreciated.

I would definately hold off with that female. I have a trio of 02 hogs and they are maybe 3 1/2' at most. I would definately say you are feeding on the heavy side. I would slow the feeding down to 1 med rat every 2 weeks for the female and 1 med rat a month to the male. Give them another year, I think your success will be much better.

Those two look great. I wish my hogs were ready this year. I think hog island boas are one of the most undervalued boas out there. When it comes to size, color, and overall hardiness, they are hard to beat. Good luck and keep us posted.
