Spider Trait Inheritability

dempserg Feb 04, 2004 11:50 PM

I was curious about the inheritability of pattern and color (base color, white sides) in spiders. Will a spider with thin webbing make a baby with thin webbing? Will the blotches of white on the sides be passed on? Is there no correlation between parent and child? I think of pieds when I ask this…low white X low white can make a 95% white pied. Any answers are appreciated. Thanks. Rob

Probably too early to say with assurity what the answer to your question would be. That's prbably why no one answered as no one knows for sure. I think that I heard that low white piebalds may throw high whites, so that may lead to some of the same conclusions with the spiders, but who knows.
