Tethys today when i got her out of her tank, i noticed she had about a 7/8 inch-1/4 of an inch fragment of her tail only attached by a little bit of the rest of her tail. something must of cut about half way through the tip of her tail here. im afraid it might fall off. could she get infected from this? is her tail going to look stumpy? like i said before its only about 7/8"-1/4" long.

Thanks Jesse

You cant even tell that she is missing this tiny fragment of her tail it still looks like a tip. yay!!! But where it came off could this like dry up and more of her tail keep falling off? by the way she just finished shedding her tail. heres my second ? is her tail going to keep growing in length or is it going to stay where its at now? is there anything i can do to prevent infection?

Calm down. She sounds like she is ok. You can put neosporin on the open wound and it should keep infection out. Look for signs of infection over the next week, swelling, warmth, pus. If the dragon starts to get very lethargic, take her to the vet. She may be fighting a larger infection. I doubt this will happen, but as a percautionary measure. Keep her water clean. The cracking on the tail you speak of could be caused by low humidity levels. Be sure to mist her 3x's a day if you are not able to keep your levels up. I am sure she will be fine, all this advice is probably overkill. Just err on the side of caution.

Good Luck!

Yea she's right, it could have been cut, or snagged off or loose, but I doubt it. I'm guessing it was cause of low humidity levels, causing bad sheds. I can hardly keep my humidity higher then 50, it stays around 50 most the time. Ive resorted to using a hose attatchment with a misting option that makes a real nice mist, which i use every day and it gets everything really wet and his tail. But even witht his within 2-3 hours the humidity falls from 100 to 50 again. But yea mist as much as possible, if you live in louisiana or something, just consider yourself lucky.
