Is canned tegu food needed?

Do baby red tegus also need to be feed canned tegu food or can they survive off of fruits and crickets/mice alone. thanks for your help.

you can also give them eggs, 93% fat free turkey mixed with fruit and calcium and other bugs (roaches, worms...)

My personal opinion of canned food? Just another way for some company to squinch even more unneccesary money out of your pocket. I never use the stuff. This is they way I look at it; Tegus do not have canned food in the wild. They survive off of whole food items. So it makes more sense to me that they would be healthier and happier eating whole food items like they do naturally.
