Worried!!!

MrLeo Jun 07, 2003 11:01 PM

I just purchased a very alert and active Adult Leo from my local pet store the first two days it was active all day and ate 8 crickets each day. For the past two days it has been layin under his hide in the hot end of the tank. He is very alert that Im around but he won't eat or come out and walk around is he sick? Also I have noticed that his feet and legs twitch sometimes, does that mean it may be to cold?

An adult not eating for two days in the absence of other symptoms is nothing to worry about. Most geckos won't eat a day or two before they shed.

What are the temps in your cage (hot side and cool side, floor temp), and do you have a dish of powdered calcium available all the times (to prevent MBD), and fresh water?

Have you se4en any change in stools?

I agree with starling if the stool is normal then its probably just going into its pre shed fast, some leos tend to do that. The twitching could simply be him loosening the skin.

Well thats what scared me its stool was a solid white and once he pooped a brown color what could cause this? My temps are 82 cold end and about 88 hot end. I hope the hell its just shedding!!! I already love my leo

The white stuff is a urate, completely normal.

I prer to have an eara of 90° pon the warm end, particulalry where the moist hide is, as it will be a little cooler in the humid hide from the mositure and you want it to be kind of steamy in there so it helps them shed.

Do you have a hide in the cool area of your cage? Do you have a humid hide, where he can go to help his shedding?

I'd be a bit concerned, if he's spending all his time in the hottest area of the cage, and has other hides in cooler places available. It could mean your temps are too low.
