Another Q about cages (Barrs. vs Cool Critters by LJ)

red_eyed_magalie Feb 05, 2004 11:59 AM

How about the cages offered by Cool Critters?

http://market.kingsnake.com/detail.php?cat=22&de=181959

What are your thoughts?

Has anyone tried them and how do you like them?

I am debating which one's to get ...

Barrs (all cages come w/vents on top)
16"x16"x20" Sale $75 (reg $85)
20"x20"x20" $100
12"x12"x16" $42
Not sure about shipping charges, but I can always get these at the reptile show coming soon.

Cool Critters
WxTxD
35x23x22 $200 shipped
30x24x24 $175 shipped.
24x24x24 $160 shipped.
24x18x16 $120 shipped.
16x16x16 $85 shipped.
Cages include adjustable 2x12 or 4x10 vent.

Let me know - I know the cages vary in prices...but which one would be ideal for my situation...

Thanks for all of your support!

I don't think you could go wrong with any of those. BTW, you can get BARRS cages with solid tops. But anyway, they're all plastic. I like the glass doors on the Cool Critters cages -- plexi does warp.

I guess it all boils down to what size you want. I would heat anything arboreal with a radiant panel -- it mounts to the inside top at one end and the animal can perch under it for heat. You just have to make sure that the perch is a proper distance away from the panel to get a good basking temp. I use a 9 x 12" Pro Products panel in a 24 wide cage for my GTP.

Again, I think both brands will be fine -- just decide what size you want.

Thank you!

I'll echo what Bill said even though I have no experience with either cage. I don't think you can go wrong with either from the looks of things.

I'll add, however, that I've spoken with and dealt with Doug Barr in regards to his misting systems. He's a class act and is known for standing behind his products. Without going into any details I'll just say that Doug went out of his way to help me with a project that was of no interest to him nor did he stand to gain financially from it.

I think he's been around longer than the other guy which says a lot in the caging business. Might be something to consider.

Thank you so much!

That's pretty much where I am leaning to...
