Looking for opinions.....

dblough Feb 05, 2004 02:16 PM

Hey everyone, I was hoping I could possibly get a few opinions from the resident forum Dragon experts on a few pictures of a couple of my baby dragons. I'm just kind of curious if anyone thinks these dragons are of high enough color quality to be sold over on the KS classifieds or not. I see some absolutely beautiful dragons advertised over on the classifieds and I think a few of mine have some pretty good color but I just don't want to embarass myself if they are not of high enough quality to try to sell over there. These are some pics of my oldest babies, they are about 8 weeks old now. Thank you for your time and opinions are very much appreciated!

Daniel

Those babies are nice. Nothing to be embarrassed about there. They look fat and healthy which is really of major importance. Normals sell on the classifieds too. I guess I'm trying to say color doesn't make a nice baby.
If a person wants a dragon just for the sake of having a buddy the color won't matter, health will. Your babies have both!!!!!
Take care

They are really pretty colors too. Nice babies. I like to see babies like your's and Bennett's that are sold when they are already well established. We see so many sad hatchling stories on this forum.

I don't think you'd embarrass yourself at all by advertising on Kingsnake. They are adorable and I love their coloring. Since I'm not a breeder, I don't really know what some people look for when buying a "high color" dragon. The things I look for are a good round belly, eyes that aren't sunken in, straight not curved spine/tail, and a good personality.

Just my two cents worth. Keep up the good work. Those two beardies look very happy and healthy!

Beautiful Dragons

I'm not sure if I've thanked you before but thank you so much for the work and time you put into your website Veronica! Whenever anyone asks me about nutrition info about Dragons I always send them to your website. I gave my Mom one of my babies and I told her the first thing she needed to do was bookmark your website and print up a care sheet from your site and also print up the nutrition content page. Again thank you very much, the Beautiful Dragons website has been a major influence in helping me raise my adults and my new babies to be as healthy as possible.

Reguards,
Daniel

At least you don't have to say they are "screaming red" and post a pic of a "normal" (pet peeve)with no red in site, I swear, people must think everyone is color blind or stupid.
Your dragons are wonderful. They don't have to be any certain color to sell on KS. Everything from normals to oranges to reds are sold.
Just be honest and list what the parents are, show pics of the parents if you want.
You have an added plus, they are 2 mo. old and well established.
I've seen that color go for 150.00 ea. ...
Good Luck!!

Those are better than most advertised there. lol If you really pay attention, there are only a of screamers in every page worth of adds. I would expect to see at least a $150. tag on a female & $100 - $125 for a male. (I didn't pay attention if you had them sexed or not.)

Good luck & good work.

Thank you so much for your very kind comments ladies, I've seen so many beautiful dragons for sale over there on the classifieds I just wasn't sure if mine would draw any interest. I know exactly what your talking about Christy, even though I am not in the market to buy anymore dragons right now I occasionally browse through the classified forum just because I really enjoy looking at all the beautiful babies that are for sale and I can't count how many times I've come across adds that are titled "Blood Red!!" or "Screaming Red Sunfire" and there isn't a hint of red anywhere in sight. I'm really not sure how I would even classify mine, Mom is a Sandfire from Foxfire Dragons and Dad is an Outcross Orange from Sundial Reptile. The health of my babies is the main thing that I am so proud of, they are all raised under a T-Rex UV-Heat lights plus a reptisun 5.0 tube. I have read where a few people on the forums have had trouble trying to get their beardies to eat greens, I know when my two adults were babies I didn't have any trouble with getting either of them to eat greens and these babies were the same way, they were all eating greens like crazy just 4-5 days out of the egg. It is so hilarious to see them eat their greens when I put them in the tank, it reminds me of a great white shark feeding frenzy... lol! Again thank you so much for the kind word words,

Daniel

Those are wonderful little babies...You have absolutely nothing to be embarrassed about.. The people that should be embarrassed are the ones calling an adult orange/yellow dragon Blood or red. Or the photos that are so done up everything in the background looks like it's glowing purple, red orange depending on how much saturation of color they added. Your dragons look great and you have nothing to worry about posting them on the classifieds. Main thing is they look healthy, and for that reason alone they deserve a spot. I've seen some pretty sad cases posted on the classifieds and the prices of them lead me to think the owners think it's normal for the back bone to be protruding out the back, and layers of unshed skin in patches is normal. Just make sure you have enough dragons for sale to make it worth it, and look into how much shipping them overnight would be. Also look into the prices of hot packs, and even cold packs come summer, Deli cups, and insulated boxes for shipping them. Also always good to have the parents on the premisis or at least pics, and where they came from lines, morphs, x's etc. People buying for breeding purposes really look for that kind of information. Good Luck!!!

I just wanted to thank everyone again for your extremely kind words and compliments of our little beardies, my wife and I are very proud of our little babies and with each shed comes another surprise of more color showing through. I guess we were also kind of afraid that being unknowns in the dragon breeding world would shy people away from us if we did try to sell them over on the KS classifieds, I think my wife's biggest concern is finding good home's for all of them. She has become extremely attached to them and takes each one out of the tank every night and handles them and talks to them.. hehe Thank you again everyone, you have all been extremely kind and have helped us very much. I know how well respected all of you are hear on the forums and seeing these comments from all of you makes even prouder of out little clan. : )
