cricket cage

just need to know a few things, how cold can they get with out dying cos they will be in me garage with gets to about 1c sometimes,would i have to heat the mesh cage with a light or someting? i hear they like cardbord egg boxes, should they be lying down or upright or what? and is the Gut Load Cricket Drink w/calcium worth it cos i dont want to drown them in a water dish. thanks

coldest they can be is around 45 degrees and with that you are pushing it. at around 65 degrees they grow slowly. i suggest no lower than 60 and no higher than 80

They will probably die with that cold. You could try supplemental heat in the form of a heat pad or light.

You have a mesh cage? I suggest putting them into a large rubbermaid container. Cut a hole or two in the lid and cover with aluminum screen. Then you can put a spotlight over the screen to keep the crickets warm. At 1 C it would kill the entire colony, however, if the temps only drop that low for a short period, it could put the crickets in a hybernation like state..but I wouldn't count on it. Its better to keep them at regular room temperature or between 65-75 F
