mixing lizards

kyle1414 Feb 05, 2004 04:43 PM

we have a plated lizard (baby) and we are moving him to a 15-20 gallon tall cage. We want to get him a friend but we can't find anymore plated lizards in pet stores and my parents wont let me mail order. Are there any other (commonly kept)species of lizards that we could introduce with him. We've had anoles(the cage he is in is our old anole cage) and frogs. We also have spare 10 gallon cages and supplies if it doesn't work out. any ideas?

I think you would be able to put a flat rock lizard with one

Before you have solved your ongoing Problems with this lizard, you should not even think about cagemates. Also even though mixing is possible-I do have lots of mixed species tank-, with your very limited expereince I would strongly recommend not to try it.
Also consider that your lizard, if the ID as Sudanese plated is true (which I doubt) will pretty soon need a tank of at least 4 x 3 ft floor space.
These are large guys. Very often they are kept in way too small tanks and end up with being the obese immobile boring lizards so many people do associate with the name Sudanese plated lizards.
But they can be quite different -and THATS their nature- but they DO need space.

Please think twice
