I would like to get another lizard for my beardie. He needs a playmate, but I would like to get a different type. I would like to know what other types of lizards can beardies get along with well?

There are none they like being alone, they could care less. Again this has already been addressed!! Argh!
The search function does not work as easily as we would like. The reason we are all here is to share and learn. Be patient with the new folks. We were all new to this at one time or another.

Well the main reason for my complaint is it wasn't 2 days ago when somebody else asked the same question, and it is asked every 2-3 days.
Matt
I totally agree that it's frustrating answering the same questions over and over again. I just have to remind myself that half of the people who come here to ask a question are first timers and don't read the forums daily, and may not bother to browse to see if it's been asked before. They don't have any clue that we answer the same question day after day after day! lol!
Don't let it frustrate you, it's not worth getting angry. Remember that somewhere there is a lizard in their care who needs YOU and the other people here to steer their owner in the right direction. If you don't want to repeat yourself all the time, brush it off and link them to the last thread it was discussed in.

He does NOT need a playmate. Bearded dragons are perfectly happy and far better off housed by themselves. They don't get lonely or need other lizards to play with.
You also run the risk of them transferring parasites or diseases to each other, and worse, not being compatible they may fight and you'd end up with one or two dead lizards.
Besides that, but a different kind of lizard will have different husbandry needs. Temperature, humidity.... these needs vary from species to species, and you can't settle on a middle ground.
Bad idea all around. Don't do it.

a playmate? what to play chutes and ladders?
Seriously - they are totally cool by themselves.
In all honestly - very very very rarely does any species enjoy spending time with another species...and if they do they tolerate it. More often then not - they dont even like their same species for any length of time...and usually ONLY during breeding season.
Most herps are solitary creatures. Spending time with others only increases stress and the opportunity for their immune systems to fail.
bearded dragons don't need playmates. They are quite content to be in their cage alone. They don't mind interaction with you, their owners but for the most part, they are quite content alone. Presenting them with something new, like taking them out of their cage to explore a room (minus any dangers to them like the pet dog or cat, cracks and cranies they can crawl into and get stuck or just make it hard for you to get them out) is all the 'play' they need a couple times a week. Even getting one of those 'playpen' things for dogs maybe alright, though you will have to make sure the dragon can't squeeze through teh bars. SHould never leave it unsupervised when out of it's cage anyway.
There are no reptiles to my knowledge that are social, that require being housed with another of it's kind to be happy. The only time reptiles congregate is during mating season. Well maybe marine iquanas, komodo dragons and some crocodilians are more social than other reptiles but giving the size these animals get, you certainly wouldn't want them as pets. (need a full sized swimming pool to keep several adult crocodiles happy).
