chibi-sephiroth Feb 05, 2004 06:36 PM

hey guys,
I got my GTFs almost exactly a week ago, and 2/3 of the frogs are staying brown... i dont remembering ever seeing them green since I left the store...

actually, one of them are brown but turns a dark brownish green at night... the other one just is just brown 24/7

i keep my tank at around 80 degrees and 70% humidity..
is there anythign Im doing wrong?

Well, the temperature and humidity sound just about right. Is there any abnormal behavior with the frogs other than the skin color? Are they eating properly? Resting high on perches or the walls? If all of that is okay, then the tree frogs may be just adjusting to their new home. The brown color in Hyla cinera connotes some sort of uncomfort with an environment. I know that when I first set my 2 GTFs in their new 25-gallon home, they were brown for a good week and spent their days trying to escape. Eventually, however, they adjusted and there were no problems.

The brown color *could* be a problem, though, so please respond with more information.

Hello,
yup my frogs are eating properly...
i noticed the frog that stays brown, turns a lighter color..sort of green, during nighttime, while the other 2 frogs turn a darker green, but are bright green when resting... weird.

my frogs never really rest high up in the corners, they rather be around the middle height, in the corners with big bunches of plants where theyre completely covered...

but are active at night as usual, though sometimes one or two of them wake up during the middle of the day, sitting on a leaf, and just staring...

They are probably just adjusting, but if there are any other problems that arise just let us know.
