Breeding age and weight?

Finnigan Feb 05, 2004 08:33 PM

My female is 363 grams and around 20 months old.

Think she's breedable?

Thanks,

Joel

Kathy Love's guidline in her book was a 250 gram minimum. I have read early breeding is not good for your snake's health. At that weight I think she should do fine. I'm going to try breeding my 02 for the first time this year and she is about 285g now. She should top 300g by the time I breed her. On that topic you should check my post below titled butter pics. Seems the weight of my snake raised some eyebrows. Your snake's weight may cause a riot

Generally 36" is the minimum recommended length of a breeding female corn snake. The snake should have good body weight, but not be fat. Many people do not realize that an overweight female snake can get eggbound, because it does not have the muscle tone to expell eggs.
