Albinos...

pspguy Feb 05, 2004 08:43 PM

I haven't had any luck keeping these. My female I bought at last years reptile show in Raleigh never adapted and died, and then a male I got from a distributor here in the area died too. Does anyone have some nice healthy albinos hatching this spring?? I need probably 2 males and 3 females. I am thinking I like the Bell albinos, but I"m not really sure yet....

I have to ask, what were their housing/feeding and what did they die of?

People aren't going to want to give you/sell you geckos when you have a track record like that... no offense

Well, I housed and cared for them like the other 6 geckos that I have.. so I don't doubt my care of them. It just never seemed like they ate when it was time. The female came from Xtreme Reptiles which I thought to be reputable, but she died. The other boy came home I think too early. They were kept on repticarpet with a UTH and fed crix/mealies.

Buy from a reputable breeder, make sure the animals have nice fat tails, study some care sheets. Stay away from the "jobbers" that will pick up anything if the price is right. Look at some of the regulars on this forum who have put in the energy to do it right. If you get animals that are healthy to begin with from someone like Kelli or Rob Jenkins and they don't do well, then you'd better stick to house plants

I'd really like to get some leos from Rob, but I haven't heard from him lately... thought he had disappeared on me.

I'll have gorgeous healthy albinos hatching this Spring, but I don't work with Bells, only Trempers. I know Kelli works with Bells, and there are others working with that strain as well.
