I just finished my Compact Fluorescent light hood and thought I would share it with you. It uses 3 40 watt bulbs and 2 32 CFM cooling fans.

what size tank are you lighting. pretty big "bulbs".it looks like you have it tacked on some cork panels.

The tank is a 30 Gal. That isn’t cork on the inside of the lid; it's a tempered hard wood panel that I used to strengthen the lid.

I got them from a kingsnake member for $80 including bulbs. They are surplus construction lighting I think.

hmm..sounds like you got a good deal. I just found a 2x65 hood with fans and reflector for 100....120 after s/h. pretty good eal for a new kit. Good luck.

You definitely do us all proud. That's a nice hood you've constructed, and the fans are looking pretty sweet. You've just got to get some red Neoregelias in that tank now to show off the power of those lights.

I don't know how the prayer plant will do under high light conditions, but I know that Java will grow like gangbusters under that setup. I'm glad you like the lights. They have worked very well for me.
