corn snakes

which is better for a corn snake? a undertank heater or a heat lamp

I like undertank heat the best.Bulbs get very costly overtime.I do use lamps once in awhile for additional heat.It's not really which one is better it's just a personal choice...Paul.

I use an UTH on all my tanks with incandecent lights for alittle extra heat. I have the light's on timers for a natural day/night cycle. My 2 corns, milk, and python are thriving with this setup.

because that is the kind of heat a snake uses to digest its meal. When I had my snakes in 20 gal long aquariums, I used human heat pads under one end along with a 40 watt light bulb. The heat pad maintained the bottom heat for the snake and the light maintained the ambient temps at correct levels.

But now I use a rack system with heat tape and no light, as the heat tape keeps the plastic boxes nice and toasty!
