A review needed on lighting duration

shopaholic Feb 06, 2004 12:07 AM

Hi: Going over my husbandry and lighting came into mind. I read that 12-14 hours for both the UV light and basking light is right. But, it seems my Cham likes to bed down earlier then lights out at 9PM(it comes on at 8:30AM). Should I move the light time to On and Off earlier? Or should the duration be shorter alltogether? How many hours does a 7 month old sleep at night? Thanks-Maggie

Try to set your UV cycle to "match" your local sunrise/sunset if possible, because chams still react to the light level they see from windows even if their cage cycle is different. But, depending on where you live your daylength may not be a full 12 hours in winter. That's one reason timers are great...you don't have to worry about your personal schedule in turning on or off.

Thanks for the clarification. I will reset my timers to match the ambient window light. Regards, Maggie
