If a secondary container is used (and I believe that it allows for better temperature control, therefore it should be used), then I believe that no model is better than any other. Therefore, I recommend the thermal model (the least expensive). I've hatched 3 clutches in the past with 100% success.

Do not use the thermometers that come with the incubators to calibrate the thermostat. Get an accurate digital thermometer with probe for this.

i bought the cheapest hovabator incubator. this will be my first year attempting to hatch eggs so i dont have experience in this but i remeber reading in an article that the one with the fan i think it's the tirbo model wasnt better because it dried out the eggs so i went with the cheaper non fan one.

I have the cheapest styrofoam model and it works well for hatching eggs from many species. I am sure it would be fine for ball pythons. I do build a wood box lined with styrofoam to increase the size and that allows more eggs inside as well.
