Please how to hookup Helix DPS-1000 to Hovabator Thermal model.

Damon Feb 06, 2004 09:38 AM

I'm going to try and hookup my Hovabator Thermal Air flow model today.. Still not exactly sure how to do it, even after reading the setup card.

From the looks of things it uses something called a waffer thermostat.

I wanted to know if I could use a Helix DPS-1000 controller as the thermostat instead of the waffer thermostat.

The waffer thingy looks kinda strange, I would be much more comfortable using the Helix.

Anyone ever do this before? I think but I am not 100% sure that my :

Possible HET albino female X my Albino male is in a prelay-egg-shed right now. If she is, how soon often do you think I may get eggs? She was breeding my male albino on and off since October 2003.

I will post some photos of her later today. This will be first clutch of eggs from any snake in my entire life, so I am very excited, but also very nervous at the same time.

Thanks so much.

Are you going to place the eggs directly into the hovabator? or in a container? I wouldnt use a hovabator with out containers since it might be too dry for the eggs.......

Simple and cheap larger incubator idea...... take an old fridge put it on its back....take a 3 foot piece of flex heat tape and line it on the bottom....connect the heat tape to the Helix.....suspend the prove in the middle of the fridge....... set the helix to 89 and thats it..... I use plastic shoeboxes and I can fit about 12 in there.....its simple and easier for you....I know of a couple of breeders that use this method with very good results....

Pre lay shed meant she ovulated already right???? 30 Days after shed you should get eggs...if all goes well....
