thinking of getting a pine

genlelow Feb 06, 2004 11:11 AM

hey guys,
never ventured to this part of the forums before..mainly cause I have a king and a boa...but i was at the pet store i frequent, and they have had a northern pine there for quite some time now...maybe a year or two...nobody ever bought him...but i see him all the time. anyway, i live in maryland and they just found out they can't legally sell him...probabaly cause he was caught a few years back and it is illegal to sell snakes native to the state...so they asked me, since i guess they trust me, if i wanted to take him for free!

i did some pretty good research, looking at carehseets and reading ur posts...but i don't want to pick this guy up and not properly take care of him, because it seems that the care might be alittle different than my king and boa. i have had snakes for almost 2 years now...and am a good caretaker...should i pick this guy up or not?

any suggestions or comments would be appreciated...and i am pretty sure he was wild caught from a few years ago...i have never seen him aggressive..but then again, i have never personally taken him out...which of course i would do a few times before i decided for sure to take him...

thanx again
Lee

Lee,

You may want to visit my website, where in the Pine Snake section there is an article on "The Natural History, Care & Breeding of Pine Snakes." It should provide the information that you are seeking.
