Poop question (more about timing)

Sunfox Feb 06, 2004 11:31 AM

Ra hasn't done his business in quite a while (it's been a week or two). He's eating a bit but nothing has come out the other end yet. He's coming out of brumation (self-induced) and sunning himself. I've checked his stomach and intestines, there's no lumps or anything so I doubt he's impacted. I've even tried walking him on his leash (he usually goes when he's outside of his tank) and still nothing. I've tried a hot bath (not too hot of course), he tolerated it well but still nothing.
Am I expecting too much this soon after brumation or should he have done something by now?
Please help

Thanks

An odd habit I have discorvered with my Mali is he buries it in the subsrtate.
I am using bird seed that is about 2" thick. I was getting worried also because I didn't see product of Stanley doing his business. I sift through the bird seed to get out the "leftovers" of his feeding out of the tank and lo' and behold the sifter struck a deposit under the seed.
Just a thought-You might want to dig around a bit.

Ra has never buried his business before. I keep an eye on him when he's active and I've never seen any hint of him digging to cover it up. It's a good thought and I'll take a look.

The first couple of 'bombing' runs Stanley pulled were in the open , in fact he had a habit of 'nuking' his basking rock. Then he changed his method of attack one day, so... who knows.

for 4 adults in one cage and only seeing 8 pieces of poop in one month got me worried for a while, but when i went to see how moist the dirt was below the surface i found pleanty of treasures lol. So i guess mine burry their "treasures" in the substrate too, and since i have dirt it isn't that easy to find all of it. If he isn't pooing i would put money on it that when he gets completely out of burmation you have plenty of it. Good luck.
