cleaning cages

I had a large rubbermaid tub that I temporarily housed a beardie in.I washed it out with hot water then I wiped it down with hand sanitizer wipes then scrubbed it with soap and water.Sound like its clean enough to house a blue tongue in for a while? Also can you feed blue tongues dried dog food if you moisten it a little bit?

I wouldn't put anything in there until it got a good soaking with bleach/water. 10% bleach and water solution. Spray it on there and let it sit 10 mins., spray it again and let it sit another 10 mins. The only reason I say spray it twice is because most likely there will be droplets on the sides not covering the whole thing. Then rinse real well with hot water. You can be pretty confident that sanitized it well.

That's just my opinion. I've never heard of anyone being 100% sure hand sanitizer wipes are going to erradicate things that may have been on a beardie.

I would say it needs to be cleaned (hot soapy water), rinsed and disinfected (bleach & water solution or use a reptile safe solution like Nolvasan/Virosan). I wouldn't trust wipes. Just my opinion.

The rubbermaid sounds clean enough to me. As far as the dry food - moisten it with pineapple juice or some kind of juice - they love it!
