Poop, eggs and behavoir... problems.

lostkauze Feb 06, 2004 03:02 PM

My female who just laid is extremely skittish, and im not sure if thats normal, but thats the least of my worries. My other (third one) female, is having her second time of egg laying, and appears to only have one. (she is shedding now, is that normal? she also shed lasttime when she was going to lay. last time she laid her eggs a few days apart, which i found strange, but was fine afterwards.) but anyways, i got home today from school and checked on my leos like i always do. but today if the bathroom area of their tank, i found a watery white goo-ish poop. it looked like a squirt of glue about the size of a nickle. i became very worried and checked my lizards. The gravid female which we talked about earlier seems to look fine with both eggs still visible, however, my third female (who is shedding) has only one egg. I'm thinking this may be a bad egg that passed thought her system, or should i be more concerned?

Thanks so much for your help/advice.
Michael

How much do these females weigh and how old are they?

You asked basicly the same thing a little while ago. You should take that advice and go see a vet.

All 3 are 2 years old, i have problems though with my two oldest, im not sure how much the weigh, but there abouta third smaller then my third. if u read my post below about drawf geckos, it'll clear it up. If the geckos are too small, how come they have the ability to breed? (stupid question but hey)

You are more likly to have problems when breeding smaller females i have heard. If they are under 45 or so grams they are more likly to have problems, mostly geting eggbound.
It sounds like you really need to see a vet. If the egg did pop inside she will most likely get an infection.

Egg bound. Is there anything i can do at home to help the situation besides giving warm water soaks. also when i do that, (ive done it before), after 10 minutes or so, the water gets cold again, how to i keep it warm?

Also, should i see a vet anyways, or wait until i see changes externally, like behavior or something? My mentor to so speak, of heps, says I shouldn't be concerned until i see outwardly problems, but i dont know, seeing how she breeds bearded dragons, but shes been with herps for over 20 years and has worked with leos before, and as a vet.

The way that i keep the water warm is by putting my over head light ( it is the kind that is just the head and doesnt have a body ) and i place that under the container of water with a 60 watt bulb and it keeps the water around 85-90ºF.
Also i forgot to mention but i use a coffee can. The ones that are all metal and is a cylinder type shape.
