Nose bubbles?

FisherCham20 Feb 06, 2004 03:34 PM

I was misting Bender today and all of a sudden he blew a bubble out of his nose. It wasn't very big really and popped almost right away but still...He was troughly soaked when this happened and was also sitting under his dripper. Is this a sign of URI?? I've been watching him very closely ever since and he seems fine. Nothing noticeable. His temp cage temp was a little bit higher than normal about 75 overall, basking about 83, and about 70 on the bottom half (lots of plants keeps it cooler). Humidity is average of 76, right now at 87%. Should I be worried? Take him to vet? Thanks!!!

Doing this once is not a sign of anything. Doing it all the time might be a symptom. Signs of URI include blocked nostrils, lots of sticky saliva in the mouth, lethargy, not eating or drinking, crouching under the basking light most of the time (but remaining a dark color), gaping (other than while basking) and heavy breathing, gulping and puffing out the gular pouch over and over, and spending a lot of time perched with the head tipped straight up.

I agree but think you need to get his basking spot temperature up higher.... Veiled or panther, 83 is not enough heat. Also, 76-87% humidity is too high.... Both of those things especially when combined can lead to URI (Maybe you're talking about a montane species, I don't remember what you have...).
