That nasty taste

Yhetti Feb 06, 2004 03:37 PM

I have run into a problem. I am trying to add Reptivite to my mali's diet. The problem is his does not like the taste. Food the he would normally eat with a vigor (endive, raspberries, papya, collards, nappa, you get the idea), once dusted, won't be touched.
Has anyone run into this problem and how was it overcome?
I understand that Uro's can be quite picky.

Just yesterday I put reptivite on my mali's food for the first time. I noticed today that their was alot of the food left, which is not normal. He always pretty much cleans up everything. I didnt think of it till I read this post. But the reptivite might have been the problem. Also about a week or so ago I fed him a few crickets with reptivite on them and he hasnt touched a cricket since. Their has been on in his cage for almost a week. (well its not there now, got loose, and is chirping like crazy...ahhh.) Now that I know why he didnt eat much I can try to figure something out. If I find any tricks I will definately let you know. Keep us updated on anything you might find too. Thanks.

Maybe you are dusting too much.

I notice that mine does not like reptivite also. I have never dusted his greens. I only dust the crickets, and superworms. Yeah they will be picky, but eventually, he eats them. So instead, I wait for a little while before feeding, and then throw in the dusted crickets, and by that time, he doesn't even care that they are dusted.

So far, that is the only solution that I have come up with.
