Minimum cage size for a single adult (male or female) would be a 40G breeder, but that is bare minimum. The most agreed upon optimal size would be an enclosure that is 4'x2'x'2' but bigger never hurts if you have the room. An enclosure that size would be good for a single male or two females as long as they get along which is common but not a sure thing. BD's like their floor space so make sure the enclosure is horizontally oriented as oppossed to vertically oriented like a chameleon cage. For lighting you will want to use basking bulbs that will provide a temp gradient with a basking spot surface temp of 105 and a cool side ambient temp of 85. BD's also require a source of UVB lighting like a Reptisun 5.0 or access to unfiltered sunlight for at least a half hour everyday. As far as food goes they should get daily greens, and crickets (lots) or other source of protein as they are growing. If you get babies or subadults be prepared to eat an insane amount of crickets while they are growing. They should be offered as many crix as they can eat in a 10 min sitting twice a day (3x if hatchlings), 50 per is common. As adults they should be fed 80 percent greens, and 20 percent crickets.
I do suggest reading several of the care sheets available on the net and checking back here. Good luck
I am looking into beardies, I own multiple other herps so I am in no way a beginner, but don't know all the ins and outs of beardies. I need to know the MINIMUM cage size for male and females. I am looking to place 2 females in 75gallon breeder and male IM not sure. I was told males need to be alone but how big of a cage? Females can be kept together but need to be watched for any dominance between em. IM aware of that much. Anything else about them that could help would be great, IE Lighting, cage design, eating habits..... I have looked on the search forum link, and it sucks for finding info!!!
thanks
