New Crested Geckos : )

RedQuake Feb 06, 2004 06:50 PM

Hi all,

To anyone who visits the leopard gecko forum, you might have read that today i picked up two crested geckos. I also crashed my car on the way home LOL The geckos are Ok, i'm sore but good too

The new geckos have lived together for almost a year in the store and one for sure is male...He is absolutely huge while the other is a bit smaller. He's a lighter colour and has spots all over him, looks really cool I set up the tank last week and have had everything ready for them. I did put in a humid hide with moss in it and a little while ago i noticed that the smaller one (female hopefully) went into the humid hide, kinda dug out a spot and stuck her head in it, eventually burying herself all the way to her tail.

I know what a gravid leopard gecko looks like, is there much of a difference in crested geckos? She doesn't look gravid by any means...she's not bulging out at all in the tummy. Frankly she looks rather small in comparison to the male...I am getting another tank and i will be separating them but in the mean time besides digging in the humid hide is there any other signs that she might be gravid? Will i be able to see eggs through her underside?

As a side note, i've got them set up in another room away from my leopard geckos and my crested gecko Zeek.

Thanks for any info........Oh.......does anyone know if the Crested gecko manual is out in Canada yet??? I've been looking for it but have been unsuccessful.

Thanks again,
Red

Two weeks ago when my female crested walking on my hand I felt bumps in her belly ... Now there is two eggs in the homemade incubator.

It's not very noticable, but loking at her after she laid her eggs, she was a lot ''larger'' .

Good luck if she's gravid

Thankyou It will be exciting if she is gravid. Here i had only intended to breed leopard geckos lol, i might end up with a house full of crested geckos instead

Now that i've seen an adult male up close and personal hehe, i'm not sure if mine is male anymore......Zeek looks alot like the female. Two males would fight right? So theres no chance i got two males...........

I dont' understand why the pair wouldn't have breed and produced eggs by now unless the temps were to cold in the store. They seemed to be rather warm but the actual tank temp i don't know.

I'll keep everyone posted....next time i might be posting about having eggs
