I'm just curious. Last year when I bred her for the first time, to a first-timer male, they both did the jerky movements, him more than her. But this year, I'm breeding her with a new first-timer, and she does most of the "jerking" or "mating" behavior. He does it too, but not as much as she does. And I guess I thought that it was supposed to be him doing that?

I had my male cali king out a couple of days ago right after I had handled my female. He did the hurky jerk while I was holding him. I figured he probably picked up the scent of the female on my arm. But I have yet to see the female do it.

Ruby is apparently MORE than ready! lol, I think next year she may have to breed with a more "experienced" male I think she's tired of "training them in" haha
