Unfortunately I did not get them in time or mabye something was wrong with them. Any tips would be appreciated. she layed them (2) in their main hide. I have no peat or anything in this hide just the gravel that I use for substrate. Do they usually lay them in the humid hides. Mabye mine is too lite? will she lay more any time soon? if so how often should i check to prevent this from happening again. and I have noticed them "fighting" once or twice the past couple of days. do they do this to just "make up" afterwards. or should I be worried? like i said if anyone can tell me anything different or any other tips i could use i would love to know.

thanks,
Andy

I am new to the breeding of geckos and I have a male and a female. My male will occasionally bite the females tail and I do not know what this proves, maybe its just a pecking order type deal. I used a humid hide filled with bed-a-beast or eco earth and she laid her eggs in there. After that, put the eggs in either a homemade or store bought incubator with vermiculite or pearlite.

get some moist peatmoss and put in the hide box.. a set up i use is a rubbermaid shoebox (or similiar container). i cut a hole in the top so they can go in and out..i put moist peatmoss inside.. not only will this be good for eggs but also for humidity and shed. they will lay the eggs inside.. and easy way to tell that she has in they tend to pile all the dirt to one side of the box to "conceal" the eggs. one this happens go in and dig them up..try to keep them oriented in that same position as you find them. move them to an incubator, and hopefully hatch them out. if the eggs are yellowish or if they quickly mold over they were probably not fertile.. if they were just caved in but white they probably dried out. leopard geckos will mate several times, so no worries there, you can expect 2 eggs about every three weeks, they lay a total of 7-8 eggs in the first year.

so do you think that while they are laying eggs that I should take the prefabricated "cave" that they hide in now, away. and replace it with another humid hide. or just put a humid hide where the reg hide sits now and move the normal hide elsewhere in the tank?

yeah that would be ok.. you got about three weeks in between laying eggs. also put the geckos directly in the box , so they know its there.. they will wonder out on their own and will remeber the place.
