Vision cages for Taiwan Beauty?

lolaophidia Jun 08, 2003 08:48 AM

Does anyone here use Visions cages for their large rat snakes?
If so, what model/size do you recommend? Also, do you use UTH and how well does that work on larger Vision cages?

I've got a male Taiwan that's getting close to 7 ft and I need to upgrade his housing...

Thanks,
Lora

Here is a pic of mine and I keep a 6 foot black rat in here. For Tiwans I would defenetly go to a bigger size, mabe the next one up.

Thanks for the reply and pic! What're the dimensions of the Visions you have the 6 ft black rat in so I know what the next size up is? Thanks again!

I don't personally use Visions, but i would stick to the 4ft to 6ft long models, most definatly. I keep my taiwans in a 4.5ft by 3.5ft by 2ft tall glass and wood custom cage, and its still too small IMO. They're large very active snakes, and will also use vertical room if given a choice. Some of my juvies will perch like chondros occationally on branches. hehe

Thanks Kestral for the reply. I ended up ordering a Boaphile model 322D 35.5L X 24D X 17.5 H. Since I've only got the one Taiwan- I think it'll do. You're right that they are active snakes! He's the most active one of the bunch- always acting hungry and prowling around. Eventually I'd like to build him a custom display case- but for now I don't have room until I convince my hubby to let me move some snakes into the rest of the house. Hee hee! Or I build the snake shack out back...

The Visions I use for my big guys (like bigger rats, breeder black milks, womas, etc.) are 36" W x 28" D x 18" H and the platform is about 6" high. They stack nicely and are easy to clean. Best cage on the market for the buck in my opinion, though the boaphile makes some sweet stuff at a more premium price. Shame Neodesha Plastics went under, they could've cornered the market with their designs, for those who don't need "stackability." -Elro
